Our approach
Detailed history & systemic correlation
Most mucosal complaints have a systemic story. We map oral findings to medical history, medications and lifestyle exposures before we touch instruments.
Structured clinical examination
All oral surfaces, tongue, floor of mouth, palate, oropharynx and cervical lymph nodes. Photographs documented for monitoring lesions over time.
Radiology when it actually changes management
OPG, IOPA or CBCT — interpreted by a trained oral radiologist, not just acquired. Imaging is ordered to answer a question, not to fill a file.
Treatment
Medical management
Topical and systemic therapy for lichen planus, recurrent aphthous ulceration, burning mouth syndrome, candidiasis, dry mouth and other mucosal conditions.
Biopsy & onward referral
Where indicated, incisional biopsy under local anaesthesia and onward referral to oral surgery or oncology with full clinical handover.
Surveillance
Structured follow-up for potentially malignant disorders (leukoplakia, OSMF, lichenoid lesions) — surveillance is a core part of specialist oral medicine care.
Frequently asked
Do I need a referral to see an oral medicine specialist?
No. You can book directly. Bring any previous reports, biopsies or imaging if available.
Will I need a biopsy?
Only if clinical findings warrant tissue diagnosis. Many mucosal conditions are diagnosed clinically and managed medically.
How long is a consultation?
A first oral medicine consultation takes 30–45 minutes — long enough to take a real history and examine properly.
