Treatment
Biopsy where indicated
Incisional biopsy under local anaesthesia for definitive histopathology. We do not 'wait and watch' a suspicious lesion.
Referral pathway
Confirmed malignancy is referred to head-and-neck oncology with full clinical handover. Pre-cancerous lesions are managed and surveilled by us directly.
Tobacco cessation
Behavioural support and pharmacotherapy referral — the single highest-yield intervention to prevent oral cancer.

How often should I screen?
Yearly for all adults; every 6 months if you currently use any tobacco or areca product, or have a known potentially malignant lesion.
Is screening painful?
No. It is a thorough visual and tactile examination. Biopsy, if needed, is done under local anaesthesia and is well tolerated.
